To the Mom Sleeping in the Car Line

To the mom sleeping in the carpool line:

I see you.

I have been you.

And there are no judgments coming from this minivan.

I know how exhausted you are.

I know that your infant woke up three times last night to eat.

I know that your teenager told you some troubling news that kept you up after midnight and woke you before dawn.

I know you are worried about your finances because your husband’s pay got cut. Again.

I know you are worried that your marriage may be falling apart.

I know that you haven’t slept more than 2 hours in a row for the past 6 months.

I know the desperation and depression you are feeling.

I know.

I also know that your baby will one day soon sleep through the night.

You and your teenager will work through his troubles because you have an open line of communication with him.

Some of your worries will work out on their own and others you will be able to manage.

Because you, my friend, are a hero.

You may not feel like one, but you are.

To your infant, you are their everything.

To that second grader running down the sidewalk, you are a champion.

To that high schooler, you are a role model.

To your husband, you are his support and cheerleader.

The Lord sees your exhaustion and He wants you to rest in Him.

So, for today, slow down. Take a nap in the car line. I promise not to honk my horn at you.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”   Matthew 11:28
