What I’m Loving, Edition July 2017

Well, friends, today is my first day back at work after a 7 year hiatus. I’m a little nervous for a variety of reasons: having to meet new people, wondering how my schedule is going to work with the kids’ schedules, etc… So if you think about me today (or anytime over the next couple weeks), please say a little prayer. I know this is God’s plan for our family in this season of our lives but it is still going to be an adjustment. For everybody.

Okay, now to some of my favorite things this month!

  1. This podcast: Y’all. I listened to this podcast one morning as I was running and I almost had to stop so I could take notes. So much wisdom here.
  2. Online grocery shopping and curbside pickup: Um, yes please! I mentioned this on Facebook not too long ago but it’s worth mentioning again today. I had been hearing about online ordering for a while now so when we moved back to Tennessee, I thought it might be worth a try. A friend walked me through the steps so I gave it a shot. I’m not gonna lie – this is life changing. I order everything I need online which takes less than 15 minutes, then I select a time to go pick it up, I drive to the store, pull up to the pick up area, and someone walks out and puts everything in my trunk. I will never grocery shop inside Walmart again! Lots of different grocery stores are offering this service so check to see if it’s available in your area. It will change your life.
  3. Glory Over Everything: This is probably my favorite book of the year. It’s a follow up to The Kitchen House, which is also phenomenal, but you don’t need to read The Kitchen House in order to understand the storyline in Glory Over Everything. This book is set in the 1800’s and deals with issues such as slavery, interracial unions, and family dynamics. So, it’s not exactly a light summer read. But it is fascinating and kept me wanting more. I highly recommend it!

That’s it for July. Enjoy your last few days of summer!
