What I’m Loving, Edition April 2025

Well, friends, I totally skipped my favorite things for March and apparently my April faves never posted! I’m telling you – it’s been a real struggle lately to keep up with all the things. Anyway, here are some of my faves from the past few months.

Something to Read:

  • The Things We Cannot Say: This historical fiction novel is set in World War II Poland and present day America and follows a woman who is helping her grandmother understand her past. This story is a beautiful picture of love, particularly learning to love your family for who they are. I highly recommend this one!
  • Something Needs To Change: Well. I almost can’t put into words how this book makes me feel. David Platt journals about his time in the Himalayan Mountains, the poverty and immense devastation he encounters as he struggles to make sense of suffering and the great need for Jesus across the world. I’m still processing this one…

Something to Listen to/Watch:

  • The Telepathy Tapes: A friend told me to listen to this podcast and as soon as I turned it on, I knew I was going to binge all the episodes. This podcast brings attention to non-speakers with autism who are able to communicate through spelling as well as through telepathy. I know – it sounds crazy, doesn’t it? And some of it sort of is. But still, as a speech pathologist, I was fascinated with the research and these students’ abilities. Give it a listen and tell me what you think.
  • Don’t Mom Alone Podcast: Speaking of autism, host Heather MacFadyen, on Episode 39 – Mothering Autism,  welcomes three moms as they discuss the devastation of the diagnosis, the struggles and triumphs of parenting a child with autism, the loss of friends, and the struggles in their marriage. I could relate to everything they were saying. It’s a great reminder to be kind – you can never truly understand what others are going through.
  • Devil in the Family: Have any of you watched this documentary on Hulu? Ruby Franke was a popular follow on YouTube, seemingly the perfect mom – then, her empire came crashing down. I’m always fascinated by other people’s stories, and this one will definitely draw you in!

Just for Fun:

  • Il Makiage: Yes, those instagram ads got me and I succumbed to the pressure. I’ve been using their Woke Up Like This foundation for several months and I actually really love it. The coverage is good and color matching is easy with their online quiz. If you’re looking for a new foundation, give it a try!
  • Neutrogena retinol: I’ve been using this retinol cream for about a year now and I love how smoothly it goes on. I’m sure I need to up my retinol game but this one is so easy!
  • Floral Adidas: These showed up in an email from adidas and I instantly fell in love! They’re super cute and perfect for spring and summer!

That’s it for now! Let me know what you’re loving, too!
