What I’m Loving, Edition June 2023

Summer is slipping quickly by – it’s almost July and I’m super sad about it! But I’ve got some great recommendations for my favorite things this month. Check them out! (some links are affiliate)

Something to Read:

  • The Judge’s List by John Grisham: This book was published in 2021 but I just recently picked it up. I love a good crime mystery and this doesn’t disappoint. (FYI – this is book 2 in a series but you don’t have to read the first to understand this one.)
  • All the Lonely People: I’m not sure who told me about this book but I picked it up at the library recently, and y’all. It’s so good. Also, lots of twists in this one!
  • Don’t Hold Back: I’m never disappointed when I read David Platt but I am always convicted. This is a great read as he discusses our country and our role as Christians.
  • My latest book: If you are the mom of a child with special needs or you know someone who is, grab a copy of my latest devotional. I hope it encourages you! You can also check out my other books – our adoption journey and a devotional for weary moms.

Something to Listen to:

  • I’ve been listening to The Rule of Life podcast recently. John Mark Comer is brilliant and he has such insight into the Christian life. I love reading his books, particularly The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, but this podcast has also been quite insightful. I’ve listened to the episodes on fasting and Sabbath and I’ve been trying to implement some of these practices into my own life. I’d love to hear your take on these practices!

Some Fun Things for Summer:

  • This snow cone machine! All Vivienne wanted for her birthday this month was a snow cone machine, and that’s exactly what she got. This has been the biggest, most unexpected hit of the summer! We make snow cones on the daily now and this particular machine crushes the ice into the perfect snow cone consistency. If you want to add a little fun to the rest of your summer, order this now!
  • These overall shorts: Okay, I wasn’t sure I could pull off overalls. I mean, I’m close to 50. However, these overall shorts are adorable and cool and comfortable. Perfect for a hot summer day when you want to look sort of put together. I ordered a medium and they’re a little baggy on me, which is exactly what I was going for. Who wants clothes that stick to you when it’s 97 degrees outside!?
  • These pjs: Another great Amazon find! I struggle with hot flashes (remember how I said I was almost 50?) and nighttime is the worst. Some of my pajamas are way too hot for me to sleep in but these are the perfect light-weight material. And they’re super cute!

Alright – that’s it for June! What are you loving this month?
