What I’m Loving, Edition March 2024

Happy Spring! I’m so happy to see the sun – it lifts my entire mood. Here are some of my favorite things right now. (some links are affiliate) I’d love to hear what you’re loving these days too!

Something to Listen to:

  • This episode of the Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey: Kristi McClelland is one of my favorite Bible teachers. She’s helped me understand the cultural context of the Bible like no other teacher and I value her insights and her love for Israel. This is a must listen!
  • This episode of the Don’t Mom Alone Podcast: On episode 38, Bri Stensrud speaks about refugees and our role as Christians. One quote she mentioned that shook me to the core was this: “Our comfort is crippling the church.” Whoa! She also said that she believes it’s not that Christians don’t care about the poor – it’s that they don’t know the poor. Give this one a listen!
  • This podcast on greed from Church of the City: Pastor Jon Tyson is one I listen to a lot. He has great insights and his teaching is easy to understand yet he doesn’t mince words. This teaching on greed was hard to listen to but also necessary.

Something To Read:

  • The Women: This book is in the running for best book of the year for me and it’s only March. The story takes place during the Vietnam War, something I know very little about, and it follows one particular girl who becomes a nurse. Her journey from war back home is incredible, heartbreaking, and I can’t stop thinking about it. Highly recommend this book!
  • Dirt: I love a good rags-to-riches story and this one did not disappoint. Plus, memoirs are my favorite!
  • Practicing the Way: John Mark Comer teaches us how to become an apprentice to Jesus and gives practical application for what that looks like. Through spiritual disciplines such as Sabbath, fasting, solitude, and prayer, he offers guidance so that we can become more like Christ. I also highly recommend another of his books, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry. Both are great reads!

Just for Fun!

  • This mascara: I love this mascara and it’s less than $5.00. There are some high priced brands I love too, but this is one I always have on hand. It lengthens and thickens my lashes and I always find myself going back to it!
  • This sweater: I recently bought this sweater to wear on Easter and I love it! The details on the shoulder are perfect and there are lots of colors to choose from. Plus, because it’s short-sleeved, it’s great for spring and can be dressed up or down. I see this sweater getting lots of wear over the next few months.

That’s it for March! Let me know some of your faves too!
