What I’m Loving, Edition March 2020

Here is my list of March favorites. Since we are all basically quarantined to our homes during this crazy COVID-19 pandemic, I have a couple things to watch, a couple things to listen to, and a couple things to read. Some of these are old but it’s the perfect time to catch up! Hope you enjoy! (Some links are affiliate.)

  1. Cheer: If you haven’t heard of this docuseries, then you must be living under a rock. Everybody has been  talking about this series on Netflix which follows a junior college cheer team from Texas as they get ready for competition. I’m not a cheerleader and never have been (unless you count my stint as a little league football cheerleader), but I loved this show. It’s a fascinating look at an intense sport and the pressure put on the competitors. Lots of good life lessons abound – if you have Netflix, go watch it now!
  2. FBI Most Wanted: Peter and I have been looking and looking for a wholesome-ish tv show to binge and I think we might’ve finally found one. This show follows an FBI unit on the hunt for various criminals. It’s captivating and so far we are really enjoying it!
  3. That Sounds Fun podcast: I’ve mentioned her before, but I really really love Annie F. Downs and her podcast. She is a Bible teacher and a great interviewer, but this particular episode is probably one of my favorites. The interviewees are Julie and Addison Bevere, and their godly wisdom and parenting advice is unprecedented. If you want something really positive and uplifting to listen to, download this episode now!
  4. Don’t Mom Alone podcast (episode 274): I often listen to this podcast for some encouragement in the mothering department. Well, this particular episode did not disappoint. Heather’s guest was Dr. Scott Turansky and he was full of guidance for parents of all ages. I loved listening to him and have even ordered a couple of his resources. These are the ones I’m recommending right now.
  5. The Prince Warrior Series: If you have a tween who loves to read, these books might be just what you’re looking for. Priscilla Shirer packs action and adventure along with Biblical truths into her children’s book series. Jonah and I both read all four of these books and we loved them. They are exciting and heart-wrenching and convicting all at the same time. And now, Vivienne is reading them too. If you’re looking for something to put in your child’s Easter basket or if you need some books to read aloud to your kids while you’re stuck at home, these would be a great gift!
  6. Before We Were Yours: I just finished this novel a couple days ago and can’t stop thinking about it. It follows the story of a family separated in the 1940’s, children placed in a Tennessee Children’s Home, and the scandal surrounding adoption at that time in history. Although the story is not technically true, it’s based on actual events. If you’re looking for a quick and engaging read, this is the book for you!

That’s it for March! Hope you are all staying healthy!

Tell me what you’re loving this month.
