What I’m Loving, Edition October 2023

Happy Halloween!!

Obviously, I’m a few days late to this party. October is already over, and now we’re entering my very favorite time of year. Colorful leaves and hot chocolate and fuzzy blankets and Thanksgiving foods and family. I’m here for it all!

Here are some of my favorites from this past month. (Some links are affiliate)

Something to Read:

  • The Unsinkable Greta James: I read this a few weeks ago and couldn’t put it down. The main character, a rock star, has experienced a tremendous loss resulting in a breakdown onstage and an unexpected vacation with her dad. I loved the development of the story and I think you will too!
  • Happy Place: Ok, I realize some people didn’t love this new book by Emily Henry so I went into it with some trepidation. But I actually found it refreshing and sweet, accurately depicting friendship and relationship dynamics that occur as people age. It was a good one!

Something to Watch:

  • If you know me at all, you know that I’ve become a soccer fan, mostly because I live with two soccer fanatics and I have no choice. With that being said, I’m coming here to recommend Beckham, a documentary on Netflix. Y’all, you don’t have to know anything about soccer to watch and enjoy this four part series. We can learn a lot from David Beckham and his family – hard work, professionalism, character, perseverance when the whole world is against you, the importance of family above it all. This is a “highly recommend” from me. (Language warning so it’s not for the kids)

Some things just for fun:

  • Dots Honey Mustard Pretzels: I’d been hearing how great these pretzels are but had never tried them. Then the other day, I happened to be browsing the snack aisle at Target and there they were, calling my name. They are seriously the most delicious pretzel I’ve ever eaten. Grab a bag now!
  • Stanley Cup: Ok, ok. I realize I’m late to the party here. I’ve had every type of water bottle for myself and all my kids and frankly, I hate washing them and keeping the straws from mildewing and all the things. But I decided to give the Stanley a try so I requested it for my birthday. Well. I’m here to tell you that I’ve apparently become a meme. My kids make fun of me because I always have it with me. I think there’s just something about a good straw that makes me drink more water. Is that weird? Anyway, if you don’t yet have a Stanley cup, you should try one.

Some more things for you:

  • Rosehip oil: I will never stop sharing about my beloved rosehip oil. It’s my very favorite beauty/anti-aging product and it’s super cheap on Amazon. If you aren’t sure exactly how and when to work it into your skincare routine, here’s a pro tip. Use it after all your other products – after your moisturizers and acids and creams – because the oil seals it all in. It’s so good!
  • This retinol cream: I know retinol is important for aging skin but I’ve tried a few products and haven’t really loved any of them. Until this one from Neutrogena. It’s creamy because it’s a moisturizer and it smells delightful! This one is definitely worth trying if you’re looking to start adding retinol into your skincare routine.

Okay, that’s it for October. I’d love to hear what you’re loving right now!
