What I’m Loving, Edition January 2023

Happy January! How are those New Year’s resolutions going for you? I’m not really a resolution girl anymore although I do love making goals each year. I’d love to know if you make resolutions and if so, what they are!

Ok – enough about goals and resolutions. Here are a few of my favorite things from January:

Something to watch:

  • We just finished watching Season 3 of Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime. It stars John Krasinksi (I still really only see him as Jim from The Office) and is a fast-paced thriller that kept me and Peter thoroughly entertained and wanting more.
  • Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery: this Netflix movie was super entertaining! We watched the first one when it came out a few years ago and I think this one was even better. This would be the perfect movie for a quiet night in.

Something to read:

  • Nora Goes Off Script: I’d been hearing about this book for a while and finally took the time to read it. I’m not a huge fan of predictable rom-coms so I didn’t have high hopes for this book. BUT… I actually loved it!  It had a few twists and turns I didn’t see coming. If you’re looking for a sweet but edge-of-your-seat read, this one might be the one for you!
  • The Fablehaven series: Jonah got these books for Christmas and has absolutely devoured them. He says they’re so good that he just couldn’t stop reading. If you have an upper elementary/middle schooler, they might be interested too!

Something fun:

  • The Christmas holidays are always prime time for game nights in our home. We’ve recently discovered two games and can’t stop playing them. First, Quixx is a dice game that you can play with your whole family. It can be played quickly so that’s one reason we all love it!
  • The second game we discovered while home in Louisiana for Christmas – Play Nine. I’d played a version of this before, but as soon as Peter and the kids played over Christmas, we quickly ordered our own set of cards. It takes a little longer to play but it’s a great game of both luck and strategy. If you’re looking for some new family games, check these two out!

Something to listen to:

  • Brie and I are going to see Brandon Lake in concert in April here in Nashville. I’m super excited about it so I’ve been listening to a lot of his music while I run. You can find him on Apple music or Spotify or wherever you like to listen to music. He has a worshipful style with deep scripture-based lyrics – a combination that I love.
  • At Home with the Beveres podcast: This family provides wisdom and guidance for parents and families, and their conversational style is really fun to listen to. If you love podcasts and you’re looking for a new one, check this one out!

Okay – I think that’s it for January. Let me know what you’re loving this month!
