What I’m Loving, Edition April 2020

Hey, friends! How is the quarantine going for you? We’ve been mostly enjoying our time at home but we’re definitely glad to see things starting to open up again. Peter has continued to go to work a few hours each week as he is considered “essential personnel” while I’ve been at home trying to educate my children, play with my toddler, and find a little bit of sanity for myself. That sanity is becoming harder and harder to find, by the way. Ha!

Here are a few things I’m loving this month. (Some links are affiliate)

  1. Rosehip oil: I mentioned this oil a couple years ago but I thought I would bring it back up again. Look, here’s the deal. Right now I’m struggling with not being able to get to my salon, and after talking with my hairdresser yesterday, I’m realizing it’s going to be at least 2-3 more weeks before I can once again sit in her chair. If you’re anything like my, your hair is a disaster – mine needs to be cut and I need my grays covered up. Desperately! But since I can’t control that area of my aging, I’m trying to control all the others. Are you with me? And this rosehip oil has been a game changer for my face. I use it every morning and every evening and I truly feel like it’s making a noticeable difference. Try it out for a month and let me know how you feel about it!
  2. The Bible recap with Tara Leigh Cobble: For 2020, I’ve been reading through the Bible chronologically (which I’ve done before) but this year I’ve added a new dimension. I’m also listening to The Bible Recap, a podcast where the host briefly discusses each reading. It’s a daily podcast but each episode is only about 8 minutes long so it’s not super overwhelming. Plus, I listen to all my podcasts on time-and-a-half speed which makes it go by even more quickly. If you need a little extra to go along with your Bible reading or maybe you need help understanding certain passages of scripture, check out this podcast!
  3. Scrub Daddy: if you find yourself constantly cleaning the kitchen like I do now that all my people are home all the time, you should give these scrubbers a try. My sister-in-law told me about these when she was visiting for Thanksgiving so I ordered a set. Y’all. They are great and they last a lot longer than I expected! I love them and will never go back to a plain old dishcloth again.
  4. The Voice: I was hesitant to watch The Voice after Adam Levine left because he was my absolute favorite. His chemistry with Blake Shelton was irreplaceable, in my opinion, and I purposely did not watch the season after he left because Gwen (ugh). But when we heard Nick Jonas was going to be on the new season, we decided to give it a shot. Let me tell you – it has not disappointed! I’m actually not a huge Voice fan but I’ve watched every episode so far this season. It’s engaging and the hilarious vibe is back yet with a different dynamic! I’m assuming you can go back and watch past episodes and you totally should! But if you can’t, just pick up where it is now. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
  5. Garth Brooks documentary: Ok, I’ve saved the best for last. Y’all. If you haven’t seen this special on Garth Brooks called The  Road I’m On, stop what you’re doing and go watch it now! This two-part series on A&E takes a fascinating look at his life and his rise to fame. Let me tell you – Garth is nothing if he’s not dramatic. Peter and I absolutely loved watching this together. Check it out and tell me what you think!

I think that’s all the excitement I have for this month. Tell me what you’re loving!
